E.J. Kavounas is an executive with over two decades of experience in media finance and investment banking. He worked for 11 years at Credit Suisse in Los Angeles where he was a Managing Director in investment banking and closed over $10 Billion worth of transactions with a focus on debt and equity financings in a range of industries. Among many media deals, he financed tax credit loans for the features Empire State (starring Dwayne Johnson) and Escape Plan (starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger).
In 2021, he produced the feature Hero Mode, which stars Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino and Sean Astin. Previously, he was an investment banker at Houlihan Lokey, a strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the entertainment and media practice and worked at The Walt Disney Company. He began his career working on the Warner Bros television series Babylon 5.
He has an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Middlebury College.
