Mr. Beechert is the Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel for Granby Capital Management, LLC, a single-family office, formed by the founder of Bennett Management Corporation (BMC), a distressed hedge fund manager. Mr. Beechert was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of BMC from 2014 to 2020. From 2004 to 2014, Mr. Beechert served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at two distressed hedge fund managers, as well as a fund of funds manager. Prior to joining the hedge fund industry, Mr. Beechert was in private practice, including with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, and Schulte Roth & Zabel. Mr. Beechert received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.S. in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany. Mr. Beechert is an adjunct professor of law at St. John’s University School of Law and speaks at industry conferences on legal and compliance topics relating to family offices and hedge funds.
