Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority

The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (USVIEDA) promotes the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) as a premier investment destination by administering attractive tax incentive programs, including a corporate income tax reduction of up to 90%, and facilitating investor site visits. The USVI offers a special economic zone, robust infrastructure, and a skilled workforce. Additionally, specialized programs for hotel development and the entertainment industry (film and music) provide further incentives for businesses in these sectors.

Notably, the USVI is permanently exempt from the Jones Act, a distinction that allows foreign-flagged vessels to transport goods directly between the USVI and U.S. mainland ports without the restrictions imposed on other U.S. jurisdictions. This exemption enhances the territory’s competitiveness by reducing shipping costs and increasing trade flexibility.
